QOYA - Qoya, a women's embodiment practice, is movement as medicine, as metaphor, as prayer. Qoya is based on a really simple idea that through movement we remember that our essence as women is wise, wild and free. Wise, wild and free also draw reference to the three forms of movement that we practice in a class: WISE, connecting to the wisdom of yoga, WILD, to the creative expression in dance, and FREE to expanding our capacity to enjoy being in our bodies through sensual movement. There is no way to do Qoya wrong: its all about looking for that place where it feels good to move. Some say qoya feels like a combination of the best wedding reception you've ever been to AND the most profound experience you've had in yoga, meditation, or similar practices. Weekly classes EVERY TUESDAY 6-7:30pm at the Mothership in West Asheville. Women ages 16-116 welcome with no experience necessary. Please learn more about weekly classes at this page and stay connected to all qoya Asheville events by joining the public Facebook group Qoya Asheville NC.

What Is Buti Yoga? - This calorie-scorching workout fuses power yoga with cardio-intensive tribal dance + body sculpting primal movement. Buti Yoga utilizes the Spiral Structure Technique to sculpt + tone the deep abdominal muscles that stabilize and strengthen the body. Instead of linear movements, it favors movements that challenge the body along all planes of motion - THE RESULT - long, lean muscle with sexy feminine curves. With Buti Yoga we believe the only way to transform your body in a sustainable way is to fall in LOVE with your workout + wellness lifestyle. To me, Buti Yoga isn't a workout - it's my chance to create - let go - connect - and sweat with intention. Every time you step on your mat, you have a chance to break through the emotional or physical barriers that set you free. This class is for women and we create a tribe-like vibe where you can come together sweat, connect in a non-competetive way. July 21 (Friday) ECSTATIC DANCE ... Serenity Celebration 2-9pm at the Center for Art and Spirit at St. George, 1 School Road in West Asheville. Opening with an eloquent expression of conscious movement, we gather our chi and cultivate our presence. Without breaking the trance, the sway gathers momentum, evoked by the sounds of the didgeridoo, sitar, cello, flutes, hammer dulcimer, percussion, bazuki and more. We dance with the chi as the music pulsates deeply. As the dance wave softens and drifts into stillness, we lay upon the ground, basking in a symphony of vibrational harmony. Singing bowls, gongs, unity harps, flutes, didgeridoos, n'goni, hulusi, ocean drum, bells, chimes and more will serenade us as we dive into the silence in between thoughts. Then we join together for a feast, with plenty of time for grounding and mingling, before gathering again for a guided breath-work and toning circle to close the event. Open musical collaborations into the evening, bring songs, bring instruments etc. $25 suggested donation. No one turned away; your presence and dancing co-creation is a valuable gift.
