World Dance - Every dance comes back to a similar base, and it’s wonderful to make those connections across time and culture. Why not celebrate it in a class? During these 5 weeks of traveling around the world, we'll learn Bhangra, Jazz, Salsa, and Hip Hop, and use our final week in order to bring them all together. The Asheville Ballet Blue Ridge Dance Camp will be held August 3-8 - applications are now being accepted. The resident summer intensive offers daily classes in Ballet, Pointe, Repertoire, Modern, Jazz, Choreography, and Dance History, with additional special workshops. Oct 4 (Saturday) FESTIVAL... Bascom Lamar Lunsford 'Minstrel of the Appalachians' Festival This daylong festival (10am-4pm) at Mars Hill College celebrates regional music and dance. Held annually with the Madison County Heritage Festival, which celebrates traditional arts and crafts. The festival is free. Numerous music and dance performances, jam circles, and a ballad & story swap will occur throughout the day. The traditional evening concert will take place 7-10pm inside Moore Auditorium and will feature ballad singers, dancers, and string bands.
