Birth Dancing Circle with Michelle Dionne - 6 Weekly Circles – June 4-July 16 ~ Thursdays, 6-8:00pm at Co-op and private home ~ $135 for all 6 circles or $30 drop-in ~ This circle of expectant mothers includes pre-natal yoga, birth dancing and preparation for birth as a sacred rite of passage. For the movement portion, women will learn fundamental belly dance movements, which moves to use when, how to guide a baby into optimal position, how to relax during labor and why this technique works. Women have the opportunity to connect with other mamas, receive mentoring and support, explore fears of birth and parenthood, learn how to move with those fears and visualize their ideal birth. Balle! Balle! Bhangra Workshop - It’s summertime, and so it’s a great time to Bhangra! Haven’t heard of this dance form? Well, if you’ve seen any Bollywood, you’ve seen Bhangra, since this harvest dance is a part of Bollywood. Come learn a simple, high energy, super fun routine at this workshop on Sunday that you’ll perform in Pritchard Park on Wednesday evening! (no, you don’t have to perform if you take the workshop, but you’ll want to!). 2015 Asheville Percussion Festival will be held June 15-21 - Come enjoy a creative environment where percussionists and dancers of all traditions, from around the globe, gather to explore, create and innovate. Daily workshops and performances at Odyssey Community School (intensive program begins on Monday, June 15) - Saturday evening performance at Diana Wortham Theatre.
