Our aim is to share information about all types of dance events, classes, workshops and performances, both locally and regionally. The DanceAsheville website is updated most weekday mornings, and our email newsletter usually goes out on Friday mornings. The newsletter is free. Go-Go Dancing - In this series, we'll explore the history of Go-Go dancing, from its beginnings in the 1960s to its revival in the club world of the 2000s as “performance art dancing”. You'll learn the classic moves, style, and the cultural impact this dance form has had on different parts of the world. Learn a choreographed medley of Go-Go dance classics, and work in groups to create a piece you can take to the club! It is recommended, though not required, that you have previously taken Jazzy Showgirl, or a similar dance form. When: Tuesdays, May 12-June 16th (6 weeks), 7-8pm. 2015 Asheville Percussion Festival will be held June 15-21 - Come enjoy a creative environment where percussionists and dancers of all traditions, from around the globe, gather to explore, create and innovate. Daily workshops and performances at Odyssey Community School (intensive program begins on Monday, June 15) - Saturday evening performance at Diana Wortham Theatre.
